10 things I’ve learned from my fit pregnancy

September 1, 2017 by Filed Under: Lifestyle Leave a Comment

Confession. Last night I had my first proper pregnancy meltdown. I’d been up since 5am, worked til close to midnight with next to no breaks in the middle, fuelled by my impending holiday, and completely forgot that 31 August marked the halfway point in my pregnancy. Not only did I realise I missed the occasion […]

Fitness in the media; When hot news become hogwash

The Times Women Weightlifting

The current state of fitness journalism is a topic I’ve wanted to raise for a while, but it’s one I’m not sure how to tackle as I try to stay grounded in the positive and coming down too hard could sound a bit like a rant. Thanks to a turning of the tide with some […]

10 lessons from year one of Fit Brit Collective

2016 reflections

For me, the end of a year is more like a new beginning. That’s certainly how I felt this time last year, as I was leaving behind eight years of full-time desk jobs to give the whole of my attention to my work in the fitness industry. Fit Brit Collective was about to become far […]

How to improve work life balance

Team Building Workouts

Earlier this month, there was a UK wide campaign called National Work Life Week, which promoted a healthy work life balance and encouraged companies and individuals to fit exercise around their working days. Ah, that sacred work life balance – a never-perfect pursuit to juggle work, family, friends, hobbies and personal wellbeing. This time last […]

Q&A with yoga instructor Sophie Dear

Sophie Dear Yoga

I met Sophie through mutual friends in fitness, and immediately I knew she brought something special to the fitness industry. She has a warm energy, a calming disposition and an unflappable commitment to her clients and the practice of yoga. I’m really excited to partner with her for a special Bootcamp & Bend event on […]

HOLDING MY FIRST BOOK for the first time is just amazing. It’s so easy once a job is done to forget about how much love & sweat you poured into it, but I’m trying to take this moment for myself, stop my mind from racing to the next thing on my to do list and imagine this experience from the eyes of my 10 year old self. All she wanted was to write beautiful words and to make a difference to somebody reading those words. She didn’t know how or what, but she knew that a part of her soul existed between the sheets of a book. It may be a niche book, but I believe it’s a necessary one, and it’s my book, and somewhere in time there is a little girl dancing in her daydreams. I’ve prepared a Stopmotion preview for you guys, will post at 5pm so stop by then if you’d like a first look at what’s inside . SMUG FACED SUNDAYS... because you’ve cut into an avocado just creamy enough to succumb to a table knife, minus the sloppy edges and squidgy brown bits. You’ve achieved avocado nirvana. Go on and smile, do a little dance, kiss your brunch date... really, you deserve this moment, because it won’t happen for another 99 avocados . PS still find it (darkly) hilarious that knife related A&E injuries surge on the weekends because of over-enthusiastic avocado slicing 🤦‍♀️🥑. Take care and brunch wisely . STRONGER TOGETHER TERM 3 will run every Thursday 230-315pm for 5 weeks from 14 March to 11 April (just before the lovely Easter long weekends!). Some of the supermums from this group and groups gone are hanging up their slings to return to work. This gives me such mixed feelings because it gave me the biggest buzz to witness the strength and confidence every dynamic duo 🤱 has gained throughout these sessions, but equally I will miss the energy and inspiration they bring to the legitimately kindest, most welcoming and supportive class I’ve ever taught! That does mean there is space for some new mums & babes to join the crew. Whether you’re returning to class or joining for the first time, you’ll find all the info plus booking link at fitbritcollective.com/postnatal-fitness-classes/. I can’t toot my own horn, but the incredible results these mums have achieved and are achieving is all the tooting required... high-energy sling-based sequences improve muscle stamina & CV fitness, while floor-based glute & core targeted exercises help to heal any abdominal separation, strengthen the abs in the correct way and injury-proof your new mum posture. All while keeping babe as comforted or stimulated as they need. For those leaving or recently left, thank you for getting #StrongerTogether with me 🤗. FIST BUMP FRIDAYS ... because, however your week has gone down, you learnt something new, grew stronger in some way and made a difference to someone else’s week, all of which deserves a moment of celebration. . . . . . #friyay #tgif #fridayfeeling #personalgrowth #youmatter #knowyourworth #celebrate #fistbump #dogsofig #cockerspaniel #gratitude #stronger #weeklywins #activelifestyle #thoughtoftheday #feelgoodfriday #selfworth #picoftheday #cutepets #happypics LOVE FOR YOUR BODY starts with a better understanding of its inherent strengths and unique potential for growth. That’s why Valentines Day seems the perfect opportunity to announce that I’ll be returning to @sweatybetty #Wimbledon with one of my all-time favourite #fitbritcollective signature classes BODYWEIGHT BOOTCAMP for a four week workshop running every Wednesday 1230-115PM between 13 March & 2 April. You’ll learn how to use your bodyweight more effectively to get stronger from head to toe, and how to recognise your own physical tendencies so you can move in a way that serves your body best. Learn essential tools to activate your core and glutes, improve your posture and boost your energy and fitness with the one resource you can always access: you! You'll break a sweat, feel empowered and laugh so hard your stomach hurts (or is that your newfound abdominal activation talking?). If you’ve joined me before, you’ll know these classes book up faster than you can say burpee, so log on to the SB Wimbledon booking page a week in advance of each class to secure your place. Oh, and the best part is it’s free! 🤗 I’ve tagged some regulars who I think will love this news. Feel free to tag & share with anyone you think would love to join! . . . . . #teamsb #iamasweatybetty #bodyweighttraining #bodyweightbootcamp #wimbledon #wimbledonvillage #swlondon #swlondonfitness #selflove #loveyourbody #toughlove #valentinesdayfitness #whatsonlondon #whatsonwimbledon #sw19 #sw18 #sw20 #wimbledonfitness #whatsonputney #putneyfitness #strongwomen #empowerwomen #squadgoals #glutes #core #posture #trainsmart #mindfulmovement
