Either I attract the best clients, who happen to become the best of friends, or I’m in the right business (I think it’s a combination of the two!), because I feel grateful every day for the people who make up my humble Fit Brit Collective family. Some of my private and class clients have been with me since I started FBC as my full-time gig in 2016. Others have granted me the privilege of training them through their pregnancies and throughout early motherhood until they are ready to return to work or move on – nearly always stronger than they were before they began training for two.

The Stronger Together classes (where you work out with your baby in a sling) are amazing. They are a proper workouts, tailored to new mums so you know they are safe. Brit’s energy (and patience with the babies) is amazing. Classes are different each week too. Personally, she is really approachable, positive and knowledgeable! Getting back to feeling strong after a baby is really hard, more emotionally than physically in my opinion. Which is why I think group classes are the way forward, if you can find the right one. Brit’s knowledge of the body is incredible, particularly the changes it goes through during and after childbirth. And she atttacts the most supportive, non-competitive, non-judgmental mums. She manages to push everyone just enough, within their postnatal limits, without making anyone feel like they’re doing less well than anyone else. Brit encouraged me to return to fitness training after a long postnatal break. I’ve really enjoyed my training with Brit, taking part in her group mum and baby classes and private one-on-one sessions. I wanted to find someone who really knew their stuff on my tentative return to exercise earlier this year following a Caesarean birth and Brit certainly does! I came to Brit to help me with my posture and my core strength through personal training sessions. I had never done any form of strength training before, so it was all new to me. Brit is my hero! From the moment we started training together I really felt like she was in my corner. She completely understood my desire to feel stronger mentally as well as physically, and put as much effort into the emotional side of our training as she did the weightlifting and sweating part! She encourages me to push harder and smile more, and never seems to run out of enthusiasm, laughter, or ways to make our training more fun (and more challenging!). I started a personal training course with Brit when I was about 10 weeks postpartum. I had put on extra weight with my second son, and had quite a difficult birth. I was nervous about how my body would react to training and if I would ever be able to feel like myself again. I met Brit first for a chat about how she could help me and instantly felt as ease and excited about getting back to it. She listened to my desires and anxieties and I was so relieved to hear how her work ethic was about focusing on my physical strength, as well as the emotional gains I would get from incorporating fitness in my life. She wasn’t going to sell me a quick fix bikini body programme that my body couldn’t handle and that was unsafe or unrealistic.
Our sessions were great fun. She came to us at home, the workouts were tough but measured and she kept a close eye on how my body was responding and changing. She bounced my son around if he was ever unsettled, so I could focus on myself for an hour. She was encouraging and enthusiastic. The workouts were different every week and she understood if home pressures meant I didn’t always complete my homework! Brit bypassed my fears straight away as a newcomer to her Weightlifting Circuits classes. She took me to one side and asked about my experience with weights and what exercise I normally do. I felt comfortable and confident instantly, and the fact that classes are limited to 8 people means you get plenty of one-to-one time so Brit can make sure you’re doing everything correctly.
